    Vegetation (1975)

    This map shows the vegetation of Pohnpei in 1975. It was derived by Landcare research from 1975 Vegetation Survey Maps of Pohnpei. The original hardcopy map was created as part of the following publication: MacLean, C.D., Cole, T.G., Whitesell, C.D., Falanruw, M.V., and Ambacher, A.H. (1986). Vegetation Survey of Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia. U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Resource Bulletin PSW-18. It was also included in Newsome, P. F., M. J. Page, and H. A. Heke (2003), Vegetation Map of Pohnpei 1995, Federated States of Micronesia. Unpublished Contract Report LC0203/079, Landcare Research, New Zealand. The dataset was slightly modified by Island Research & Education Initiative (iREi) (2017) to better match 2016 WorldView-3 satellite imagery.

    This map shows the vegetation of Pohnpei in 1995. It was developed from 1:15,000 color stereo aerial photographs obtained in October 1995 by L. Cairns (Department of Survey and Land Information, New Zealand), interpreted by stereoscope by P. Newsome and M. Page, and validated by field inspection. It was also included in Newsome, P. F., M. J. Page, and H. A. Heke (2003), Vegetation Map of Pohnpei 1995, Federated States of Micronesia. Unpublished Contract Report LC0203/079, Landcare Research, New Zealand. The dataset was slightly modified by Island Research & Education Initiative (iREi) (2017) to better match 2016 WorldView-3 satellite imagery.

The dataset was developed from color stereoscope interpretation of 1:15,000 aerial photographs obtained in May 2002 by L. Cairns, carried out by stereoscope by P. Newsome and M. Page, and validated by two weeks' field inspection. It was included in Newsome, P. F., M. J. Page, and H. A. Heke, (2003), Vegetation Map of Pohnpei 2002, Federated States of Micronesia.
